edenbrooke giveaway

The time has come...I have two Advanced Reader's Copies of Edenbrooke that I'm excited to give away! But first, a little musing on my part. Like all books that I read, I play them out like movies in my head. Here's my cast for the players in this Regency romance:

1) Helen Mirren as Grandmother  2) Jonny Lee Miller as Phillip Wyndham  3) Timothy Spall as Mr. Whittles  4) Emma Watson as Marianne Daventry  5) Zoe Boyle as Cecily Daventry  6) Olivia Williams as Lady Caroline  7) Charlie Hunnam as Mr. Beaufort  8) Tom Hardy as William Wyndham  9) Kate Beckinsale as Rachel Wyndham  10) Carey Mulligan as Grace Fairhurst  11) Alessandro Nivola as Mr. Kellet  12) Rooney Mara as Louisa Wyndham  13) Julian Sands as Mr. Daventry

Easy on the eyes, aren't they?

I enjoyed Julie's book so much that I had a hard time putting it down. My favorite part was this precarious moment shared between Marianne and Phillip in the library:

I felt trapped in his gaze. I was suddenly overcome with the sensation that if I looked deeply enough into Phillip's eyes I would find a beautiful, important secret. I drew in a breath, and as I did I leaned closer. The sensation grew stronger, convincing me that it was only the distance between us that was keeping me from uncovering the truth. If I leaned toward him, something would happen. I was sure of it. But if I leaned away, nothing would happen. So I stayed perfectly still, balanced between something and nothing, not knowing which way I wanted to fall.

Not since Lucy and George from A Room With a View have I been so anxious for a couple to fall in love! I know you will enjoy this novel as much as I did.

To win one of the two ARCs of Edenbrooke, like my facebook page and leave a comment there by Saturday, March 17th. Two winners will be chosen at random and notified next Monday, March 19th, 2012. Good luck!

LOVED your picks for the cast!!! I actually had Zoe Boyle in mind for Marianne instead of Cecily (watched a lot of Downton Abbey at the time), but your choices totally work. Johnny Lee Miller for Phillip.... YUM!! Perfect.

Amy, I actually did consider Zoe for Marianne, but her soft features and delicate nature had Cecily written all over them when compared to Emma Watson. Also considered (but didn't make the cut) were Rob James Collier as Mr. Kellet and Sienna Miller as Cecily. Isn't it fun to cast the characters ourselves?

I love posts like this! "Casting" book characters with modern actors really helps me visualize the lineup. I'm going to save this post for the day that I begin reading this book. Here's hoping I win-- thanks for the chance. I'm going to head on over to your Facebook page.

I really like what you have done here. I have read the book, and your choices fit perfectly for me. I wouldn't mind swapping #2 and #8, though. drool.

LOL, Jinjer. #8 was pretty hot in Inception, was he not?

This was so much fun. I love the individuals as well as how they look as a group. They just all fit together, you know? And Charlie Hunnam as Mr. Beaufort is SO perfect. They're all fantastic, really. You just got the characters, exactly as I imagined them, and I can't describe how cool that is as an author. Thanks for this awesome post!

The whole time I pictured Marianne to look exactly like Emma Watson! If they ever make it a movie I really hope they persuade her to try for it. But for Philip I saw Eric Bana. Google him, he's a cutie for sure.

My sister and I both think the men for Philip and Mr. Kellet should be different. I don't know, but I see Philip as being a bit more like a gentleman and stronger. And Mr. Kellet as being more nerdy, a winded man.

This cast is so perfect! I couldn't imagine a better group of people for this movie!! I can't wait to see the book come to life!

great cast.... However I was thinking more along the lines of Henry Caville for Phillip. I do adore Emma Watson - but also agree with Jullianne Donaldson, Imogen Poots is lovely and would be a great Marianne. If it does make it to the big or small screen, I hope it's done in a lovely manner - more along the classical lines. It's a wonderful story.

I do like the casting and my friends actually picked Emma Watson on their own for Marianne. However, for Philip....I pictured someone younger, with blue eyes....someone with a mischievous grin, like Liam Hemsworth. I love JLM in Emma and cant see him in this but all the others seem right on!

Wow. Well done. Now I will be disappointed if anyone else is cast, instead.

Love the casting choices...most of them...I agree that Philip isn't quite right. I am thinking Chris Evans... All the others are PREFECT!!!

They are all just like I imagined them.... except for Phillip. I'm not sure which actor would be best but Jonny Lee Miller just isn't working for me.

I agree with the majority of posters, love all the picks except JLM as Phillip! No!!! If you have seen the beginning of the first season of Once Upon a Time you would agree; I think a perfect fit for Phillip is Sherrif Graham played by Jamie Dornan!!! DROOL! JLM ruins his romantic appeal in the new Sherlock Holmes adaptation he's in and Tom Hardy is too creepy/intense, if you've seen him in Wuthering Heights or Warrior! I like your pick of Emma Watson as well as Imogen Poots for Marianne, much better than the girl in the book trailor!! :P IMHO.

I disagree with that man for Phillip. I believe Armie Hammer or Liam Hemsworth to play him. He has to be charming and irresistible. He has to have a beautiful voice and that take charge in his appearance, also that sweetness and playfulness. Armie Hammer would play him amazingly.

I love the book. The photo used for Phillip looks like a mug shot. I received the book for Christmas and I've read it over and over. I solo hope they make a movie. It will be an absolute hit!!!

I absolutely loved your choice for the Edenbrooke cast! I wasn't so sure about Philip, but the more I looked at him the more I liked him. But still not very sure on him.....maybe we should keep looking. ( i imagined him as a younger gentle men, with brown hair and crystal blue eyes; but if not just golden brown eyes. Also with a sort of wider jaw line.) If this truly to come into a movie I would be so excited to see it. We really should try getting producer's to look at this book. It is one of my absolute favorite books, along with Montana Summer. I really loved you casting, if it was to become a movie; I would want them to play as the characters.
